Australian Lighting Designers are Choosing Vintage LED

What drives these points home, however, is when high profile, well-known and incredibly talented Australian designers handpick Vintage LED to fulfill their LED filament bulb needs. Having seen, tested and experienced the beauty of our bulbs, they know they’re found the best. Therein lies the proof in the pudding.

Klaylife

If you’re yet to hear about Klaylife, firstly we don’t know where you’ve been, and secondly, well please, let us introduce you. This incredible organisation run by a Melbourne-based, South African family, employs a community of women in Kwazulu-Natal, South Africa to hand craft clay beads that go into creating, quite simply, the most magnificent and show-stopping chandeliers and pendants you’ve likely ever seen.

In the beginning, the beads were crafted by women in the village whose lives had been affected by HIV and who desperately needed an income. Unsurprisingly, Klaylife quickly grew in popularity and as such their workforce has expanded to include many other local women.

With such prestigious pieces requiring only the best and most reliable light bulbs, Klaylife found what they were looking for in our gorgeous range of Fancy Round bulbs.

They now choose to light up their chandeliers with our Fancy Round G45 Porcelain Frosted E14 bulb in a 3000k colour temperature and their table lamps come fitted with our Fancy Round G45 Porcelain Frosted E27 bulb in a 2700k colour temperature.

Soktas

Ryan and Oliver are the creative duo behind Soktas and they’re basically lighting design royalty. Made in Currumbin, Queensland, their incredible hand-blown, glass pendants have been lighting up Australian and overseas homes and businesses since 2015. Their designs are sleek, beautiful and so unique that you know a Soktas light when you see one. With one half of the team hailing from family who learned their craft at Kosta Boda Glassworks in Sweden, it’s no surprise they have experienced such success.

With an appreciation of Vintage LED’s understanding of lighting and product quality, Soktas approached us with a specific lighting need to complement their stunning Volt pendants.

We worked with our suppliers to custom create a globe to meet their exact needs, including colour temperature, wattage, lumen output and bulb shape. With a high volume required, we were able to achieve this specific product in addition to co-branding the globe packaging to really elevate the professionalism and create a strong brand awareness for both businesses.

Every Soktas Volt pendant now comes supplied with a Vintage LED ST64 Long Filament 4W E27 light bulb in a 2800k colour temperature.

Takeawei

Chela, the incredible talent behind Takeawei, is a creative genius. Having worked in New York with some of the world’s biggest names, she fell in love with ceramics and returned to Australia to launch Takeawei in her beachside hometown of Torquay. Crafting beautiful and functional ceramic homewares, she recently extended her range to include lighting. And wow, just wow! These cylindrical table lamps are a gorgeous, textured creation that we didn’t know we were missing in our lives.

Naturally, Chela wanted globes as beautiful and reliable as her gorgeously hand-crafted lamps, and our stunning matte, porcelain frosted round bulbs fit the bill. The large table lamps now come complete with our large G125 Porcelain Frosted E27 bulb and the medium table lamp is fitted with the slightly smaller G95 Porcelain Frosted E27 bulb. These bulbs provide a stunning, even flow of light perfectly muted by the smooth, porcelain-look, frosted finish. If two products were to ever be the perfect match for each other, it’s these two.

LAAL

LAAL is a relative newcomer to the lighting and design landscape, but the sister/brother duo has very quickly made one hell of an impact on it since launching in 2017. With a focus on elements including boldness and simplicity, they design clean and unique furniture, lighting, hardware and objects.

They then work with a carefully selected group of Australian manufacturers to bring their designs to life. And when looking for the highest quality light bulbs to do their sleek and stylish lighting justice, they were quickly impressed with Vintage LED’s stunning range of porcelain frosted bulbs.
